We try and utilise all of our leather from the workshop. Inspired by traditional conveyor belts formed of links like bicycle chains, we developed the Click bench to ensure that every off-cut gets put to good use. Leather is punched out, then threaded onto lengths of dowel and mounted. The profiles of the frame are set to match the leather, inviting the hand to engage with the warmth of the piece. The undulating surface itself demands tactile engagement, and will burnish with use. We’ve finished the piece with a papercord-wrapped shelf underneath, a final accent that extends function and references traditional, cord-wrapped footstools. Because of the nature of the off-cuts we use, each bench will have its own, unique character.
